The new regulations regarding small unmanned aircraft in UK airspace has opened doors for many flights that were previously only possible under exemptions and authorisations, especially with lighter aircraft. The Mini 2 is a fantastic tool that I am delighted to add to the toolbox.
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Andy, one of the volunteers keeping Magpie Mill beautiful and safe. He was busy giving up his time to fix a grill on one of the mine-shafts that had been vandalised but was still more than happy to give up even more of his time to explain the fascinating history behind the best surviving example of a 19th-century lead mine in Derbyshire to me.Read more “Magpie Mine”
As much as the branding suggests that this operation is one man and his drone, many missions have huge involvement from a lot of other parties – observers, camera operators, marshals etc. Let me explain with a few examples. What3Words (W3W hereafter) have developed an amazing system where they divide the world up into 3m² squares. It’s much more accurate than a Google Maps link to a location. And exact locations are a huge part of drone flight planning!
If you already know how to use W3W then jump straight to the Contact Me -> Location Sender page to pick and send the locations. If not, read on!Read more “How to use W3W to send me exact locations”
