The Boyne Bridge, a stunning, cable-stayed bridge spanning the River Boyne on the county borders of Louth & Meath in Ireland was one of my main motivators for getting my first drone! Every time I drove up the M1, I wished I could get an aerial photo of it.

My main work at the time took me out of Ireland for most of the year, but finally, in 2019, I got my shots! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Dunamase or The Rock of Dunamase is a rocky outcrop in the townland of Dunamase in County Laois, Ireland. The rock, 46 metres above a flat plain, has the ruins of Dunamase Castle, a defensive stronghold dating from the early Hiberno-Norman period with a view across to the Slieve Bloom Mountains.

Magpie Mine

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Andy, one of the volunteers keeping Magpie Mill beautiful and safe. He was busy giving up his time to fix a grill on one of the mine-shafts that had been vandalised but was still more than happy to give up even more of his time to explain the fascinating history behind the best surviving example of a 19th-century lead mine in Derbyshire to me.

Blackpool has switched off the illuminations for the first time since 1939 – last turned off at the outbreak of the Second World War. Although Blackpool Tower, which, according to Blackpool Council, has “become a symbol of hope and optimism throughout this pandemic”, remains lit.

The Osmington White Horse is a hill figure cut into the limestone in 1808. It’s on Osmington Hill – just north of Weymouth, Dorset. The figure is of King George III riding his horse and can be seen for miles around as it’s 280 feet (85 m) long and 323 feet (98 m) high!

Co. Wicklow. The Garden of Ireland. My home county.

I was very lucky to spend a few months back home last year and have put together 100 photos into a collection I call “Wicklow by Air“. The full collection is a big gallery of images ordered by when I took them. Below is a little summary broken down by location.
